In his last in-depth interview, the late writer and social critic Kurt Vonnegut said, “I’ll tell you one thing that no Cabinet has ever had is a Secretary of the Future, and there are no plans at all for my grandchildren and my great grandchildren.” Wow! What a great thought.
Can you imagine one Cabinet member that collates the many challenges of our future and focuses on that only? This Cabinet member looks at the future of science, technology, global warming, global finance, employment, medicine and pharmaceuticals, energy, and so forth. This person can help different segments collaborate, integrate, and prepare resources for our future. This is a winner idea, Mr. Vonnegut. Let’s do it!
